ward 43 is a surgical b2 ward... this ward is quite boring cause nothing happen during my duration of the 2 weeks postings... sian... but the best thing that happened was.. i was posted in ward 43 in december 2005.. very near christmas.. and there's was this short young male doctor... very cute... you know wat he did? he played christmas songs to all the patient in the ward and i mean to all... he went to about... 7 cubicles.. playing christmas songs on his cello! COOL! haha.. and he even played it for us in the staff lounge... u know wat he wear? he wear santa suit with stuffings made from cotton that can be found in the hospital! haha... then all the stuffing and fake beard came out so we place some micropore (hospital cellotape) over... hehe... and he even played it to the opposite ward... so cool... nothing much happen... except for this one boy... from the naughty home.. u know where it is... he was brought in because of the stitch of his appedidectomy ruptured.. it was the second time he was hospitalised.. the weird thing was, everytime he was about to be discharge... he claimed to say that he had bleeding during open bowel... but we had a suspicion he doesnt want to go back to the naughty home thus he will do anything to actually to stay in the hospital. the doctors have no choice but to detain him one more day for observation and investigation.. naughty boy... that's all...

okie.. sorry for not updating... been busy with all... hehe...in ward 47... it is a kids ward.. where sick kids came in... the atmosphere is quite different than the adult ward.... this is because the ward is connected... get ready.. to.. a.. PLAYGROUND! oh yes... a big playground... ok.. we went there for 2 weeks... when we come in, it was packed! so many kids suffering... pity them all... the most remembered member of the patient is a deaf and not so mute boy... of 5 years... he came in after policeman found him roaming in the rain at a basketball court... i feel so sad to hear his story... it was said that the boy live with his mother but it was said that the mother beat him up... so kesian... neways.. one day in those 2 weeks we were there, an old couple came in to see him.. and u know wat? the couple had once looked after him and he's able to communicate with homemade sign language! when the couple came in.. i was so touched and nearly bawled... uh.. actually... i don't bawled.. i just sniffled.. hehe... neways.. the lady hug him.. kiss him but i think he didnt seem to remember the couple... it was so sad... ok... another case... a baby girl was brought in for diarrhoea... she was soooooo chubby! i just love to pull those cheeks! hehe... and want to know something? the mother is only a year younger than me! whats been happening to youngsters this days.. naughty naughty... ok... another interesting case.. this boy came in for appendidectomy... removal of the appendix... ok... he came back to the ward.. all pain pain... we were quite bored with his pain.. even the doctors.. want to know something.. one of the docs scream at him to stop crying 'wolf' or in this case pain as morphine is already given at the maximum! what happening to young kids these days.. haiz...ok... a lesson to learn.. even if u having siblings squabbles.. dont ever pull ur 'opponents' hair.. because it may lead to bleeding under the scalp and cause the head to swell and needed operation to take out the blood... so... don't pull the hair alright.. the pain is unbearable as the girl said to me... best patient ever had...
that's all... cya...

sorry ppl who have been reading my blog.... kak isma remind me of this blogging of mine that i seem to forget about... thanks akak... so as to account for all those missing wards... i'm here again to tell all about ward 63, 52, 47 and 43... ward 63 is a cardiac ward... it was said that ward 63 ward sister is very strict... to me she is.... very-very strict! haha... want to know y? one day she was in my cubicle and one of my patient's intra-venous plug has been pulled out because of swelling to the site... so the ward sister was there... she saw me take out the plug... the i/v bag was still hung from the i/v stand which was behind the patient that time... the patient was sitting on a big green chair and blocking ppl's way from reaching the stand... (try to picture this... i know its complicated to those who haven't been in the hospital to know the layout...) so... after i pull out the plug i went to clear the tray... the sister, who was still in the cubicle watch my movement like a hawk... hehe... anyways... she ask me to clear the i/v bag.. so i clear the bag without bringing the i/v stand together... when i came back... she was still there... there was also a group of medical students standing in the cubicle... she suddenly said... "how can you be a staff nurse if you do things halfway?" i was shocked to the core... hehe... and i want to explain that the stand was blocked by the chair... she doesn't seem to care for my explanation so i shut up and and i actually need to squeeze btw the big chair and a locker to get the stand... i push the stand to the equipment room and if you look properly... you can see smoke coming out from my ears! hehe... joking only... hehe.. even her staff nurse do things halfway... want to know why? the staff nurse (sn) was supposed to discharge this lady from my cubicle... when she heard she can be discharge, she called her children to fetch her home... the sn was very proud... she didn't instruct me to do anything so i assume the patient can go home... the patient went home... then i informed the sn that the pt went home already... she started gathering the discharge file to discharge the pt.. when she reach the pt bed... she saw that the pt was not there... then i tell her the pt went home already... she was so furious at me that she started mumbling to herself.. well.. i was not in the wrong... i think the sn just doesn't like student nurses... there's this one story i need you guys to read... there's this one old lady who come in with 3 stoma bags attached to her stomach... this bags contains her faeces from her intestines... i think she have carcinoma(cancer) of the large intestines... this lady i think have dementia... she also have a nasogastric tube for feeding since she don't want to eat.. whenever they want to feed her through the tube... they must do it out of her view... if not she pinched them.. her son... who was not married looked after her at the hospital... that day in the afternoon... i was in the cubicle and at her bed waiting for the assistant nurse(an) to come and change her pampers... i hold her hand and stroke it... the son was standing in front of me... as i was stroking her hand she called her granddaughter name... ain... the son explained to me that ain was the granddaughter and have not yet visited her at the hospital... he asked me to call her nyai which was grandmother in malay and he also ask me to refer myself as his niece... i was reluctant that time but i called her nyai later that evening when her urine catheter was accidentally pulled out.. the an asked me to hold her legs apart with the help of one institute of techincal education (ite) nursing student... the an was to re-insert the catheter... the lady was shouting crude malay words that is not necessary for me to re-enact in this blog... hehe... anyway... as she was shouting... i've got the urge to call her nyai... and i do just that... i called out... "nyai! this is ain..." she stopped for awhile then continue the shouting when it started getting painful (the re-insertion of the urine cat.) then i scold her... "nyai! y u talked like that" she keep on shouting and at the end of the procedure i stand by her bed and hold her hand once more... it was nearly my signing out time.. so i say..."nyai... ain want to go home... i see you tomorrow" the whole time i stand beside her she called out ain.... ain... the son was touched by my role play that when i was on the way out of the ward he said to his relatives "there! that's the girl who pose as ain...." i just smiled at them... the lady was surrounded by many relative and it was good to see her... for once... so calm and quiet... i smiled and went home... the next day... i was in the morning shift... i came in and find that her bed is empty... i was curious.. maybe she was discharge last night... but there's no such late night discharge... when i start duty... i ask the an what happened to the lady... i was shocked to hear that she had passed away! to my own opinion... i think she is able to go away calmly and with ALLAH S.W.T. blessing because she had finally "talked" to her beloved granddaughter ain which i assume have not visit her... may her soul rest in peace and may the person whose name is ain find peace in life... why? because she had no chance to say goodbye to the one that probably love her soooo... Ameen...

still in the sixth week... after that patient passed away... it was a wednesday... on thursday i work morning... the patient who was in the bed next to the deceased was an old man... he came in becoz of a big lump near his liver... he is so cute... he didn't suspect anything bout the lump... he thought it was the abdo stone or something so he was not worried coz it can be taken out with operation... his son was also not worried... then they found out that the lump is the cancer of the liver... doctors talk to the son bout his father condition... i saw the son crying! he was so devastated... the old uncle still didn't know bout his conditon... the son was too sad to tell him... he just act normal but i saw tears coming out of his eyes after he had walked away from his father... may god help his family overcome this sad situation...
in my last week...
nothing much in the last week.. i just kept myself busy.. then my last day which was yesterday there's an old uncle who was tranferred from ttsh... he was in serious health state.. yest. an assistant nurse, my friend and i sent him to the endocology clinic... he was to undergo oesophago gatro duodenoscopy (ogd)... it is to check from his oesophagus to his duodenom... after we reach the clinic, we park the bed... the staff nurse at the clinic checked the uncle casenotes and we were then allowed to go... when we want to go out of the clinic... i looked back at him and then i wave... that was the last time i saw him very much alive and healthy... when he was in ogd there seem to be complications and doctors were rushed to the clinic to help out... then the doctors rushed him to the ward and the resuscitation trolley was bring in... his family members were crying... especially his grandchildren... he was also given the dnr note... the family agreed on it... it was so sad to see ppl grieving... so yest. when i left he is still alive and i hope he pull through... if not... may god rest his soul...

my fourth week till my seventh week was in ward 44... a surgery ward...
the first week at ward 44 was actually quite boring actually... we still don't know the ward flow of things... one funny thing in the first few days was that i mixed up the casenotes... i put casenotes in different trolley... when the nurses found out i just keep quiet... hehe... the second week was alright... nothing much happen... then the third week we start to get busy... i look after the male ward in my sixth and last week at 44... during my sixth week i finally got a malay patient... a 28 year old man who got intestinal obstruction... he is sooooo funny... the doctor was supposed to see him and you know wat he did??? he went down to the kopitiam below to get a magazine with his friend... i actually went down with my friend to find him... one thing about my third week is that i came near a patient who was critically ill... he had nose cancer and his nose was bleeding and he was only able to breath through his mouth... so he was unable to talk... he was still young... i was working in the afternoon shift when i was first saw him... that day he suddenly become so ill that the registrar even came down to talk to his wife and sisters... they agreed to let him go if he collapse in a do not resuscitate (dnr) situation... the family members must be inform of this everyday until the patient get well or suddenly collapse... that day the registrar sign the form already when he had spoken to the family members... that night when i left he was already stable... it was tuesday... the next day i was also in the afternoon shift... when i came i was surprise to see him so alive and stable... but things went for the worse when the staff nurse was putting on morphine for the patient.... i was inside the cubicle with two of my other friends... he was relaxing... his wife and sisters was outside... then suddenly he signaled for me to gve him something... i don't know wat so i called in the sister... he was pointing to a plastic bag with soya bean drink packets inside... then the wife came in and said he needed the plastic bag... when we gave him the plastic bag he started coughing and blood started to come out from his mouth... he was coughing blood! we panicked... i was wetting tissues to give the staff nurse who was already sensing that something had gone wrong... we were running out of the cubicle like mad women... my friend and i.. then the last few pieces of tissues that i had wet... i was ready to give it to the staff nurse and u know wat??? the staff nurse called the patient name... my friend did the same... but he did not reply... he started to drift off... his eyes closing slowly... his wife was crying so hard..... the other staff nurse in the ward started to come in and doctors were called... they tried to revive the patient and then they saw the dnr note... the note was dated the day before and dnr note need to be filled in everyday... they didn't know wat to do... then the patient drift off and there was no more pulse... when the doctors come my friend and i were standing outside of the screened bed... our hearts hitting our ribcages very fast... then we know he was no more... the wife was so sad... she became weak until needed to be carried to the nearest chair... i felt so sorry for her... may he rest in peace...
